The entire movie builds and fixates on the "miracle" of the childrenspared by the volume of prayer. I guess people didn't pray enough atColumbine, 9/11, the Holocaust. Just make the movie, tell the story andleave the dogma/indoctrination in the margins. A gesture or footnotedetailing the beliefs of some which casts no shadow over other storieswithout a "miracle". I'm not preaching hate. This movie fails to findbalance and by virtue of the above sentiments connoting a highlyselective deity who punishes, by inactivity, sooooo many other people. Not the kind of deity you want in your corner or on your TV screens. Ithink said deity would take offence at the suggestion.
I really dislike movies that take horrible event's and try to turn theminto something religious. If people really think god came down to stopsome kids from dying here but couldn't have just stopped the killersbefore they even did anything then I would have to question thatperson's logical thinking. Whether or not there's a god is irrelevant, those that believe tend to find something where it's not, two peopleare in a car accident one dies the other doesn't, the survivor thinksgod saved them but what about the dead person, a believer might saythey are in a better place now and it was god's plan, it's amazing thethings they come up with. Of course god get's credit for anything goodbut none of the bad, the bad is never his fault right. Cognitivedissonance. As for the movie eh w/e didn't really find it all thatgreat, would have preferred a non religious biased take on the event.Let's not even wonder about all those kids that die everyday 20,000+ orhow many people are killed all over the world religious and nonreligious, god just cherry picks as much as the people that follow himI guess, what a load of nonsense. But hey if you liked it that's fine,if you are religious that's fine, I just wish people wouldn't let theirfaith blind them. "To see by faith is to shut the eye of reason"-BenFranklin
Beginning wasn't all that awful, the characters where thought out andthe camera work seemed decent. To bad this is yet another Christianpropaganda movie.Litterly the last 20-30 Min's of the movie revolvearound how god saved those children.
I mean come on do we really need another movie like this? isn'texodus:god and kings enough? Just leave us none believers be and stopmaking shitty movies. If i wanted to be indoctrinated by the Christianbelieve i would go to an American bible camp.
Basically I made this account to tell you this movie is absolutegarbage, i feel like "god" just robbed me of one and a half hour of mylife. But hey he works in mysterious ways.
A miracle that they survived yes. Did they experience and see thingsmaybe. but,,,,Dead relatives are given credit for the miracle, notChrist. Implies the girls lived just so they could have babies.Unrealistic depiction of the seen (no law enforcement after 2 1/2hours} not true. Police from miles around responded. What else did hetake creative license with? It is made and written by a LDS film makerwithout saying the word but centered on Mormon doctrine and will beloved by his own kind. Disliked by other non-Christians and makeChristians angry that it was marketed as Christian movie. If you drinkthe cool aid go for it, if not be prepared to walk out.
For starters, I am a Christian but I do recognize a horrible movie whenI see one. During the first scene when you see the terrorist guy Icouldn't stop laughing because I haven't seen overacting that bad sinceanything with Nicholas Cage. Also the cgi in this movie was some of theworst I have ever seen. Maybe it wouldn't have been a big deal becausethe film probably didn't have a big budget but the film makers decidedto shove the crappy special effects in your face. Also the randomscenes of comic relief in the movie tried to make the kids more likablebut instead made it a wonder that they didn't get killed right then andthere. Honestly this is the worst movie I have seen all year. Toexplain everything wrong with this movie I would have to watch it allover again and I honestly do not ever want to go through that again. What's even more appalling is that every review here thinks that itsactually good. Just because it has a good story doesn't mean it'sactually good. TC Christenson is one of the worst directors today nextto Uwe Bol. But at least Uwe Bol knows what he's doing.
Having seen much of Christensens work, I found this movie to be one ofthe best ones yet! The movie includes firsthand accounts of thesurvivors and is truly made to show that miracles do happen and prayersare answered. Many reviews rate this movie very poorly, claiming it's"religious propaganda." It's a religious movie. It's about miracles andprayer. The word miracle is in the title. So don't rate something asterrible merely because you found more religion than you wereexpecting. The acting is well done, the story makes sense, and I foundthe movie engaging and interesting. Give it a shot! It's worth thewatch.
Read the majority of negative reviews of this movie, attacking faithand Christianity instead of actually making direct statements about themovie itself, and you will understand why this country is collapsingaround us, and the world as well. So much hate for God and Christiansand Christianity. A very sad world in which we live, and sad, miserable, hate filled people in it. And indeed they are going toregret their hatred when they stand before God and are judged for theirhate, and cast into the depths of Hell. The movie may not be a billiondollar flashy Hollywood feature, but it tells a fantastic story offaith and belief and miracle. Give it a shot and you'll find themessage.
Moral of the story:every time a bad guys plan doesn't work = Jesus.Bomb still went off and people still got hurt, couldn't god havefigured out a way to show that he is real without people going throughtrauma? Why only show yourself in situations were there is tons ofplausible deniability ? Im sensing a pattern, people who have invisiblefriends are grasping at straws because that is all they have left. If Iwas a god, I would just teleport an angel to every person once a monthso there would be no reason to doubt my existence. And the angels wouldbe visible to everyone and to all cameras. Did they check the camerasin the schools by the way? Were there angels on camera? Or were theyjust a figment of their stressed imaginations?
The film starts out well, there's good character development, the plotline is subtly introduced and is later fully revealed which keepsinterest high. The introduction captivated me, Nathan Stevens did anexcellent job, and his acting skills are probably one of the mainreasons I didn't give this film one star. The other cast members wereexcellent as well, however, about half way into the movie I lost almostall interest. The only reason I enjoyed watching from that point wasbecause it was absolutely hilarious to me how pushy this film's valuesare. The film took a very opinionated turn, and a few scenes that showthis are one, the scene in which Claudia Hartley (Sarah Kent) istalking to her husband, Ron Hartley (Jasen Wade) about how miraculousit is that all the children and faculty survived, and that it HAD to bethe work of God. God forbid someone think it was the work of Allah, oreven worse, luck. The second scene, well really a collection of scenes, are of children telling stories of seeing angels and relatives thathelped them. The entire second half of the movie is purely dedicated toconvincing the husband that it wasn't just by chance and that it wasthe work of God. The moral of the story, not surprisingly, is that weshould recognize God's existence and appreciate him for what he does.Understand where my comments about a biased retelling of the CokevilleElementary Bombing comes from now? Again, the first half of the moviewas excellent in my opinion, but from then on it was incredibly biasedand even comical, to me at least. I can appreciate a film like "God'sNot Dead", because even though it attacks Atheism and portrays it in apoor manner, it's not a story that ALL religious groups would beinterested in watching. The incident of the Cokeville Bombing is knownthroughout the world, and is relevant throughout the world, thereforeit shouldn't be tailored only to one group of people in the world. Those who believe in Allah should be able to watch it without beingpressured, those who believe in things like chakra should be able towatch this movie without being pressured, and those who believe thereis no god, like myself, should be able to watch this movie withoutbeing pressured.
Here's what I don't get. Why did so many people who don't want to watcha movie about God or religion watch a movie with the word "miracle" inthe title? I understand if you don't like that kind of stuff. I don'tlike horror films so I don't watch movies with the word "horror" in it.You can't complain about a movie being exactly what the title says it'sgoing to be. It's a low budget film, but they did a pretty good jobwith it. It's great for what it is! And I expected it to be about God,religion, and miracles because I looked at the title. Go into knowingwhat it is and you will like it. If you go into expecting it to be abig budget Hollywood film you will be disappointed.
